Dear Community Supporter,
Greetings from the Portage County Fair in Amherst! The Portage County Fair Association is a 501(c)
(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the youth of Portage County through 4-H and
FFA programs. Our fair provides young people the opportunity to showcase the animals they raise,
the crops they grow, and the projects they work hard on throughout the year. It is a place where their
dedication and learning can be shared with the community.
A large part of our mission is to recognize and reward these young exhibitors. Each year, the fair
awards approximately $20,000 in premiums, awards, and trophies to support 4-H and FFA youth
programs. These funds help encourage continued participation while celebrating the hard work and
achievements of our county’s young people.
The Portage County Fair is a four-day community event with something for everyone. Throughout
the fair, visitors can enjoy carnival rides and games, live music each night, and family-friendly
entertainment. Thursday and Friday nights feature our popular truck and tractor pulls, and Friday
also includes the 4-H/FFA cake auction. Saturday night will feature the Demolition Derby, along
with the parade earlier that day. Sunday wraps up the fair with a full schedule of activities, including
the market animal sale, volleyball tournament, youth tractor pull, cornhole tournament, bingo, cash
raffle, and more.
The fairgrounds also serve as an important venue for many other local non-profit organizations to
raise funds. Groups such as the Tomorrow River Conservation Club, the Holstein Association, 4-H,
FFA, Scouts, and the Amherst Softball Team help provide much of the famous “fair food.” The
fairgrounds are also used by organizations such as the Tomorrow River Lions and Lioness club for the
Fourth of July fireworks show, as well as other community events, including the Little Britches Rodeo.
The Portage County Fair runs entirely through the dedication of volunteers. Our fair board members
work year-round to organize and maintain the grounds, while many community members volunteer
their time to help prepare for, operate, and clean up after the fair each year.
We invite you to review our sponsorship opportunities and consider supporting the Portage County
Fair. Your support helps us continue enhancing the fairgrounds, supporting youth programs, and
maintaining this long-standing community tradition. We welcome your ideas and are happy to answer
any questions you may have about our operations.
Thank you for your time and for supporting the youth and community of Portage County.
Sincerely,
The Portage County Fair Association
